PRIVATE HOUSE AT KEFALONIA

The project aims to configure the outdoor space of a 19th century residence at Inglesata, Cephalonia.

Having as starting point the physical topography and local flora research, and being in accordance with the existing residence’s proportions and materials, various spaces are created to host exterior functions for the entire day: a swimming pool with adjacent shaded built-in benches, a gazebo placed at a privileged point of view of the plot, an outdoor kitchenette sheltered from the winds, a circular fountain and a wide outdoor seating area with a ten-seater dining table, are connected by cobblestone paths that create an architectural promenade along the entire length of the plot. The plants have been located based on the need of creating various shaded areas for each hour of the day, while the construction materials come from the island and are thus harmonized with the existing residence.
